Speaker Feature - Chloe Allan

Ahead of our in-person event "The Retention Opportunity: how can we retain women in tech" at Huboo in Bristol, we had a chance to speak with one of our speakers, Chloe Allan, Technology Manager at Just Eat Takeway.com.

A bit of background, who are you, what do you do and where do you work?

Hi! My name is Chloe, I’m a Technology Manager at Just Eat Takeaway.com. I’ve been here for almost 5 years, I started my tech life as a Backend Developer and moved into the management space a few months ago. I currently manage a team that works on offers for the platform, so we create tools for partners to create offers and allow customers to redeem them. It’s a fun space to work in as everyone loves a discount on their takeaway!

Why is it so important for everyone to keep the topic of diversity in tech at the top of the agenda?

I think it’s really important to keep the conversation top of mind so people are consistently thinking about diversity and it becomes a subconscious ideal. Diversity needs to be driven by everyone, especially those with privilege already, so discussing the positive ways people can make a difference is what I’m really passionate about.

What are you most looking forward to about the MotherBoard event?

I’m really looking forward to connecting with people in Bristol and sharing some stories, but mainly I’m interested in learning something new about parents in tech and whether there’s anything we can be improving to help matters. I’m not a mom myself so it’ll hopefully be an eye-opening panel for me!
