Unpacking Burnout: Key Takeaways from Our Event

At our recent MotherBoard event, Business Psychologist Fiona Kearns explored how to navigate burnout and maintain wellbeing.

Fiona shared how the World Health Organization defines burnout as a workplace syndrome caused by chronic stress that hasn’t been managed—not a disease. While burnout is often tied to work, there’s growing recognition of other forms, like parental burnout.

One of the many key messages:

Burnout happens when workplace stress goes unaddressed. Fiona highlighted the importance of building supportive environments, with realistic workloads and open communication, while recognizing early signs and acting quickly.

“Burnout isn’t just about working too hard—it’s about working too hard without the right support.” Fiona Kearns
